The objectives are:

  1. the search for solutions to the aforementioned problems, such as defining technique and rules to follow in drawing up contracts, specifications, agreements and institutional roles in order to create an open collaboration prototype among cultural and private institutions;
  2. the analysis of the various disciplinary methodologies of communities of the humanities area, and not only on how users use resources and digital services.

The Study Group proposes to delve into the complexity of the underlined problems, and attempts to find answers to questions like the following:

  • How to improve today’s relationship between users and digital libraries, currently mediated by search engines and, to a large extent, by commercial publishers?
  • How will it be possible to guarantee users access to digital resources even for very long periods, in the presence of the current access limits defined by producers of resources?
  • How can the user become active in the digital library, for example by crossing diverse information from various digital libraries, in view of reusing digital collections so as to facilitate his activities and create knowledge?
  • How can the user accumulate, in his own personal space, information and metadata pertaining to texts, with a continuous enrichment tied to his use of digital resources?
