The expected results are:
- propose guidelines for ideal disc preservation;
- divulge the results via Web and other channels of divulgation, information and galvanization. The results will be divulged by means of articles, essays and presentations at conferences. Bilingual publishing on the Internet and mailing lists will be the preferred tools, considering the need for prompt communications and the transitoriness of results, which require constant updating;
- conduct training aimed at sector practitioners in Italy and, by means of the TAPE project, in Europe;
- use of community building tools (helpdesk);
- start a permanent monitoring and quality control service of optical supports for digital memories which, employing consolidated benchmarks, can supply answers to those conserving or intending to conserve their digital patrimony on optical supports.
Also regarding the study results, the Centro di Fotoriproduzione Legatoria e Restauro degli Archivi di Stato (CFLR) stands to provide storage services to conservation institutions of the cultural heritage on a national basis, exploiting the aforementioned machinery, as well as its own air-conditioned storehouse.
